Judge: Water releases on Klamath River will continue

September 1, 2015, 10:27 am
Undercurrent News
A US federal judge denied a request Friday from two Oregon drinking water producers who had sought to have the Department of Interior forced to stop releasing water from the Klamath River in an attempt to prevent the deaths of Chinook salmon, the Times Standard reported.

The companies had argued that further releases from the Klamath dam were hurting their ability to produce water during a prolonged drought.

Environmental activists and representatives of nearby Indian tribes said that the water releases helped to mitigate negative health impacts to fish and humans that are caused by low-flowing, warm river water conditions.
