Nestlé Waters North America is no longer exploring Orting as a site for its first bottling plant in the Pacific Northwest.
The company was considering Orting’s three mountain springs as sources for a plant that would bottle 100 million gallons of water a year.

Nestlé Waters North America (Nestlé) initiated discussions with the City of Orting in spring 2008 as a part of the company’s efforts to develop a new spring water bottling facility in the Pacific Northwest. Nestlé was looking to build and operate a facility in the Pacific Northwest to meet regional market needs.

Orting officials are continuing talks about building a bottled water plant in the city–and they are considering how the project could affect their roads, water supply and revenue.
Chris Kemp, a project manager with Nestlé Waters North America, says Orting would receive $375,000 in new tax revenue in 2010-2011 if his company builds a plant there.
